MERCEDES-BENZ USA | SENIOR PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

March 2020 - Current

  • Strategic partner of several business units (e.g., Marketing, Sales Intelligence, Market Research, Strategic Retail Development) procuring commodities related to sales intelligence, data processing, and market research while developing commodity strategies and sourcing recommendations. Management of multi-entity contracts with 40+ suppliers (e.g., Experian, J.D Power, Carfax, HIS Global, Urban Science) totaling over $50M AVOB. Project management of multiple RFP processes and enterprise contract renewals.

  • Generated $5M+ in annual savings by successful negotiations, contract optimization, bundling opportunities, and strong sourcing strategy.

  • Procurement Consultant for Mercedes-Benz Manhattan (MBM). Work directly with MBM CEO, CFO, and business units, in a weekly basis, optimizing procurement processes, supplier management, compliance, and business unit adherence to Daimler Policies. Performed procurement trainings.

  • Lead of quarterly audits to assess compliance of procurement processes. Reporting of policy violations to Germany HQ, providing deep insights to increase compliance and implement risk measures.

  • Leading audit findings remediation through procurement e-training development, SharePoint site implementation to document policy violations, and generation of visualization dashboards to show findings distribution per company area to guide remediation practices.

  • Working closely with IT department for SAP Finance modules on the enhancement of procurement processes automation.

  • Design and implementation of procurement intranet website on a multi-national level and content for business partners.

  • COVID-19 Crisis Management: Achieved cash flow optimization by contract re-negotiations and supplier assessments. Promoted savings and liquidity for the company by payment terms extensions, price transparency, and robust contracts. Procurement of PPE during the pandemic.

  • Reported and escalated policy violations securing compliance and legal protection for the business. Optimized and modeled reporting processes and analysis methodologies for audit documents generation.

  • Support Buyer for Mercedes-Benz Manhattan contracts and leader for competitive bids managing contracts up to US$10M. Improved MBM procurement procedures, which resulted in annual savings and procurement efficiencies.

  • Generated training materials for different business units and designed IPS website model for the International Procurement Services intranet.

  • Decreased distribution costs projection redesigning and implementing an optimization model solution for passenger cars supply chain. Enhanced passenger car carriers´ performance developing and implementing a new KPIs strategy and key metrics.

  • Participated in performing the procurement, strategy, and planning functions for Daimler Trucks North America’s truck distribution within the NAFTA region, focusing on content optimization and compliance for business development.

  • Placed 3rd in consulting STAR interns project proposing a CRM digital platform to connect dealer, customers, and Mercedes-Benz.

  • Spearheaded applications for government tenders related to relevant sustainable and social impact practices to get funding of $150,000.

  • Translated quantitative research and supply chain technical concepts into clear training and presentation materials for non-technical audiences.

  • Consulting project: team lead in a joint project with Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, evaluating the logistics, inventory, and design of a possible revaluation center for recycling materials to decrease operation costs in 25%.
